Frequently asked questions
What happens in my makeup trial?
For your trial, I will come to you in the comfort of your own home and spend time with you talking about your desired look.
I will cleanse and professionally prepare your skin before applying only the highest quality makeup. I write down all of the products that I have used for your skincare so that you can continue to look after your skin before your special day.
We will spend all the time needed to ensure that your makeup is perfect, there is no time limit on this.
When should I book my trial?
I recommend having your trial around three months prior to your wedding. I also think it is good to attend your hair trial, on the same day, before coming to see me. It will ensure that we get the full picture and can see everything coming together.
What happens on my wedding day?
I’ll come to the venue or your home, nice and early, to get set up. After your makeup is complete, I will stay with you until you get into your dress and apply your lip colour.
Do you come back in the evening?
Some brides have asked me to come back for the evening and I am more than happy to do so. We can discuss prices for this separately.
How would you describe your approach?
I want you to fall in love with your makeup and yourself, so I will go above and beyond to make sure that you have one of the most special days of your life. I want you to feel relaxed, knowing that you are in the most capable hands. I have done the makeup of many brides over the years, so I have my process down to a T. I have been known to take stickers off of shoes and help dress the bridesmaids and the bride, I like to help out as much as possible. I am a friendly, kind and good-humoured person, I would like to think my personality and presence can put people at ease.
What are one-to-one makeup lessons?
One-to-one makeup lessons are where I come to you, either choose to work with your existing makeup routine and then I can recommend improvements to the application of makeup and how to get the best result. Or we can start with a fresh approach working with your own natural features and explore how to enhance them with different styles, application and colour. We will look at your existing skincare routine and develop a plan going forward if required.
What can I expect from a group makeup lesson or demonstration?
A group lesson is run with up to five people, each with their own makeup station/mirror and bringing your own makeup products, that you use on a daily basis. You will then mirror image myself and my routine and application step by step, to learn new techniques and tips to gain the best results from an easy and enjoyable process.
A demonstration is where I present to a larger audience, performing makeup on a model for the audience to watch and learn.
Why do I have to pay a deposit?
A non refundable deposit of £70 per person is required to secure your wedding makeup trial upon booking.
Following a successful wedding makeup trial, a non refundable deposit is payable upon booking your wedding day makeup. The date of your wedding is then secured for you to prevent any further bookings being taken by Lisa Tyrell Makeup Artist for your date. The reason the 50% deposit is non refundable, is to prevent loss of income due to a cancellation, where that date could have been booked by someone else. This policy is standard practice throughout the industry.
